Louis Steinhauer (he likes to be called Lou) spent his illustrious career as an aerospace engineer. His specialties were electrical engineering, project management and information technology (IT). He had the privilege of working on the nation’s major defense satellites as well as the first unmanned soft lunar landing spacecraft (Surveyor). He spent many hours launching satellites at Cape Canaveral and is known by some as a “steely-eyed missile man”.
During his years as an IT manager Lou managed an organization of over 200 people and was responsible for a network of 9,000 desktop computers and 400 servers.
Lou was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn with a BEE degree and migrated to California. He earned his MSEE degree from USC while working for the Hughes Aircraft Company.
Lou lives in Pasadena with his wife Jan Copley. Since his recent retirement from TRW/Northrop Grumman he has been assisting Jan, at her Pasadena office, with her business as an estate and business planning attorney.
Lou has a son, Jeff, and a daughter, Karen. Karen lives in San Diego with her husband and Lou’s granddaughter. Jeff lives in Israel.
Lou’s hobbies include hiking, golf and bicycle touring. His golf game is terrible but he has ridden his bicycle 300 miles in one day!
